In order to grasp the entire complexity of the human nervous system, one needs to understand its physical substrate. Down to which level should a whole brain emulation keep all the structural details of the brain in order to achieve all of the functions of the biological brain? While a computer program could easily be emulated in order to achieve the same specified function, the human brain is a special case because of its enormously complex functions. For this reason, causal relations between brain structure and function are currently being made in neuroscience. Neuroscientific research is in this sense supporting WBE and therefore AGI, by providing important data, models and simulations of brain functions. The goals of this paper are to review the challenges for gathering and assembling connectome data and to provide directions for overcoming these challenges. Finally, the implications for AGI will be discussed.

First of all I want to thank you for this interesting topic. Must say this is one of my favorite categories. So I have thought of dropping few words here. Actually I don’t make comments on every post I visit. But this is quite interesting. I love biology a lot. I love to study about human nervous system. I know it is a complex network of nerves and cells. These nervous systems carry messages to and from the brain. Also it passed message to spinal cord to different parts of the body.

The two types of nervous systems are Central nervous system (CNS) and Peripheral nervous system (PNS). If you go through with it, you can see that CNS is made up of the brain and also with spinal cord. And the PNS is made up of the Somatic and the Autonomic nervous systems. Let us look in to the topic in detail.

The CNS is divided into two major parts: the brain and the spinal cord.

The Brain
The brain lies within the skull. If you look into it you can see that it is shaped like a mushroom. The four principal parts of brain include:
• the brain stem
• the cerebrum
• the cerebellum
• the diencephalon

The Spinal Cord
Let us look into spinal cord. It is a along tube like structure. This is extended from the brain. And it is composed of a series of 31 segments. The length of spinal cord is about 43 cm adult women and in adult men it will be 45. Also it is weighs about 35-40 grams. Spinal cord is lies within the vertebral column, the collection of bones (back bone).

The PNS is made up of two parts: That is Somatic nervous system and Autonomic nervous system

Somatic Nervous System
This nervous system consists of peripheral nerve fibers. This picks up sensory information from the peripheral and carries them to the central nervous system (CNS).

Autonomic Nervous System
It is another part of nervous system. It has three main parts. This includes,
• the sympathetic nervous system
• the parasympathetic nervous system
• the enteric nervous system
The nerves of the inner organs are controlled by this nervous system. I mean the inner body on which humans have no conscious control. This includes the heartbeat, digestion, breathing (except conscious breathing) etc.
